Numerical Treatment of Oxide Particle Dissolution in Multicomponent Slags with Local Gibbs Energy Minimization

چکیده

Herein, a diffusion model for the dissolution of oxide particles in multicomponent slag systems is developed. It assumed this that sharp-interface separates solid particle from liquid slag. Minimization Gibbs energy provides conditions at interface. The differential equations are solved numerically via finite-difference scheme. indicated parameter studies controlled kinetics may result strongly different profiles depending on initial conditions. demonstrated rate-controlling dissipative process components cases where earlier investigations claimed coupled diffusion-reaction charge kinetics. Eventually, numerical results compared to data obtained high-temperature laser scanning confocal microscopy (HT-LSCM) experiments.

Gibbs energy minimization in gas + liquid + solid systems

An algorithm is described for the calculation of equilibrium compositions of multiple highly nonideal liquid and solid solutions, as well as pure stoichiometric phases, coexisting with a mixture of ideal gas species at fixed temperature and pressure. The total Gibbs free energy of the system is approximated as a quadratic function of the compositions of the gas phase and stable condensed phases...

Calculation of constrained equilibria by Gibbs energy minimization

The Gibbs energy minimization encompasses active use of the chemical potentials (partial molar Gibbs energies) of the constituents of the system. Usually, these appear at their equilibrium values as a result of the minimization calculation, the mass balance constraints being the necessary subsidiary conditions. Yet, there are several such physico-chemical circumstances where the system is also ...

Multi-Component-Multiphase Flash Calculations for Systems Containing Gas Hydrates by Direct Minimization of Gibbs Free Energy

The Michelsen stability and multiphase flash calculation by direct minimization of Gibbs free energy of the system at constant temperature and pressure, was used for systems containing gas hydrates. The solid hydrate phase was treated as a solid solution. The fugacities of all components of the hydrate phase were calculated as a function of compositions by the rearranged model of van der Wa...

A Gibbs energy minimization method for constrained and partial equilibria*

The conventional Gibbs energy minimization methods apply elemental amounts of system components as conservation constraints in the form of a stoichiometric conservation matrix. The linear constraints designate the limitations set on the components described by the system constituents. The equilibrium chemical potentials of the constituents are obtained as a linear combination of the component-s...
